“Our Mission is to train principled and competent leaders within the lacrosse community, who will step forward with integrity to serve, lead, and influence their peers and fellow athletes.”
“PRINCIPLED AND COMPETENT LEADERS”
At the core of every leader are courage, competence, and character. And a leader will always follow something or someone, whether it be dedication to a set of core values or an inspirational figure. Choosing who or what your follow is important because it determines how a Leader learns what leadership is all about.
“LACROSSE COMMUNITY”
Our student-athletes are 100% students in the classroom, and 100% athletes on the field. The saying “Athletics helps academics” is not an excuse for poor grades.
“STEP FORWARD WITH INTEGRITY”
Develop your core values of courage, competence, and character by maintaining strong principles and moral values at all the times, especially when it might perceived as “uncool” by peers.
“TO SERVE”
By working on the fundamentals (skills and core values) you are serving others more than yourself. This is usually not glamorous work and sometimes not very fun. But success requires sacrifices.
“TO LEAD”
You become a leader by serving the best interests of the team before your own. Lead from the front, with courage and commitment. Praise in public; reprimand in private – this prevents public conflict, defensiveness, and builds respect. Lead by example in both the classroom and on the field.
“TO INFLUENCE”
After hard work and consistent development you can teach others. Have a contagious spirit of humility, and dedication to the team’s goals that is passed on through the generations.
