NORTHEAST FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH HARVEST LACROSSE

(Rochester, NY) – The Northeast Region Fellowship of Christian Athletes is pleased to announce an exciting partnership with Harvest Lacrosse beginning in 2012. FCA and Harvest will team up to help promote leadership development in players from first through twelfth grade.

“We want to help support and promote like-minded organizations,” says Sean McNamara, FCA’s Vice President of Field Ministry for the Northeast Region. “We value and appreciate the mission of the organization and want to support in whatever way we can.”

Founded in 2011, Harvest Lacrosse is a locally based lacrosse mentorship organization seeking to encourage young athletes to develop character along with their sport.  The mission is to “train principled and competent leaders within the lacrosse community who will step forward with integrity to serve, lead, and influence their peers and fellow athletes.” Led by Grant Catalino, a former three-time All-American at the University of Maryland and professional player for the Rochester Rattlers, the work of Harvest focuses on one-on-one skill training, group lessons and clinics, and camps.

The heart of Harvest is to “promote lacrosse and use the game as a way to help young players grow in the game and into model young men and women,” Catalino states. “We teach kids leadership characteristics and hope they go out into their communities and pass them along.”

As a former player for the Fellowship of Christian Athlete’s Rochester and National Lacrosse teams, Catalino uses his Harvest platform to coach others in the lessons of service and integrity learned through his experiences with FCA and a successful lacrosse career. In fact, one of the most rewarding moments he has seen so far is to have an excited parent detail the change in a child who now wants to help serve in the community. The change is perhaps a direct result of Harvest’s intentional character reward system taught during lessons and clinics. This is the kind of impact both Harvest and FCA desire.

FCA has high hopes for 2012 and the partnership with Harvest Lacrosse. By joining together, both Catalino and McNamara look to promote lasting integrity within the lacrosse community of Rochester. For more information on Harvest Lacrosse, access their website at www.harvestlacrosse.com.
